Blog Social networking

Social networking is becoming an extremely popular trend in society today where everyone have some sort of social media. Some might only use one and others might choose to use many. There's an abundant amount of social media out there such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. There are many ways people can use social media, but most would agree connecting and socializing is the most useful. With social media, people can connect with friends from childhood through mutual friends and recreate long lost friendship. Other may just have social media to stay connected with others for future opportunities. Many corporations today use social media to recruit new employees according to the article "Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting" and the most popular social media for that would be LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a social media for professional use across the world where information of talented individual is accessible. The classic way of just applying to a job is currently not the only way of finding a job. You can now post your resume on social media such as LinkedIn to sell your talent and have companies scout for you. It is extremely convenient and is beneficial to society.

However, there's always a dark side to good causes. What else can it be besides privacy when it comes to technology? Users of social media like Facebook set their privacy setting to better protect their personal information from non-authorized hackers and thieves as mentioned in "Who Cares About Facebook Privacy? Students Do". But while there are smart people who sets a privacy setting, there are others who post everything about themselves online. Based on article "Leaving 'Friendprints': How Online Social Networks Are Redefining Privacy and Personal Security", users who post their whole life online have a higher chance of identity theft and other crimes related to privacy/security. Having technology already means that there's little to no privacy to any information posted online because not only are predators looking at your information, the government monitors it too. The government does it in terms of goodwill attempting to stop crime before it happens, but this does not mean your privacy is not being invaded.

In the future, technology will definitely improve where many people can work remotely as some people already do today. The process of finding and filling out an application will be sure to be mostly online instead of in paper form like the past. Even the interviewing process might have multiple rounds online before the final round of face-to-face interview, some might not even have a physical interview.
